Rewrite RRS 50.1 (b) –
A competitor’s clothing and equipment shall not weigh more than 5.7 kg, including a crew harness (as defined in The Equipment Rules of Sailing), and excluding clothing (including footware) worn only below the knee. A crew harness shall have a positive buoyancy in fresh water and weigh up to 4 kg.
For teams that are registered as weighing less than the following table, the permissible personal equipment weight may be higher.
Personal Clothing Allowed FX crew weight
6.7 kg <136
7.7 kg <134
8.7 kg <132
9.7 kg <130
Registered weighting can only be conducted within 150 minutes of a scheduled start time. A team need only register their weight once per regatta. Only teams that are seeking a higher personal clothing weight allowance must weigh.
This temporary class rule change shall run from implementation until June 15, 2025.
The race officer may suspend this temporary rule change via notice or on water hail at any time, primarily to deal with cold conditions. The recommended practice for suspending this rule will be outlined in the 49er Class Race Management Guidelines.
If a team exceeds their allowable weight by up to 300 grams, the penalty shall be 10% of the fleet per race on the day in question.
