Stephanie Roble and Maggie Shea secured the U.S.A.’s 49erFX selection for Tokyo 2020 in dramatic fashion at the 2020 World Championships in February.
After the 2019 World Championships, they trailed their fellow American teammates Paris Henken and Anna Tobias by just four points in the selection race. With the 2020 Geelong Worlds as their second of the two-leg selection events, it was do or die time for Roble and Shea.
In this interview, Roble & Shea are joined by sailing journalist Andy Rice for a look back at how the medal race unfolded from their eyes and the pressure that is put on the 49erFX athletes from around the world.
