Keanu Prettner / Jakob Flachberger

Born on 15 November 1999 and raised in Strobl on the shores of the Wolfgangsee in Austria's Salzkammergut, Keanu Prettner has been around boats since childhood, starting out aged eight in 2008 at the UYC Wolfgangsee.

He and crew Jakob Flachberger, whom he has known since kindergarten, formed their 49er campaign in 2019 and have grown into Austria's leading skiff team, part of the national and Salzburg 2028 Olympic squads.

The defining result of his career came at the 2026 World Championship in Quiberon, where the pair claimed a superb silver medal, comfortably their biggest success to date, having also tasted victory at the top Sailing Grand Slam level.

From Bad Ischl in the Salzkammergut and now also based in Strobl, Jakob Flachberger (born 16 December 1999) shares a friendship with skipper Keanu Prettner that stretches all the way back to kindergarten, the two later turning a childhood bond into a serious Olympic partnership.

Sailing together since 2019, Flachberger has been central to Austria's rise in the 49er, a climb that peaked with World Championship silver in Quiberon in 2026, the biggest result of their careers, with Grand Slam success along the way.

The duo are targeting the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics as part of Austria's Salzburg Olympic project.
