Eight Nations Competing in the 49er Class:
The 49er class is showcasing its prowess with teams representing eight different nations. Among these are Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, the United States Virgin Islands, Mexico, Uruguay, and the United States. It’s an international showdown of sailing skills and determination, promising some fierce competition on the water!
Five Women’s Skiff Teams in the 49erFX Class:
The 49erFX class features five remarkable women’s skiff teams, each representing their nations with pride. These teams hail from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Peru, and the United States. Their participation highlights the popularity and inclusivity of the 49erFX class in the world of sailing.
Olympic Qualification at Stake:
This event holds great significance as it serves as a qualification opportunity for Pan American countries to secure their spots at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Two coveted spots are up for grabs in each class – one for North America and one for South America. The competition is fierce, as these athletes aim to realize their Olympic dreams.
Racing Format:
The regatta will features 12 opening series races. A maximum of four races per day will push these sailors to their limits, with each race targeting a speedy 30-minute finish. It’s all about precision, teamwork, and strategy on the open water. The top five boats will compete in the medal race.

For all the 49er enthusiasts out there, the Medal race is scheduled for the 3rd of November, with a reserve medal race day on the 4th of November. These are the days when the competition will reach its peak, and the winners will emerge!
