Marcus Spillane, CEO of 49er Class, proved once again that the heightened sensitivity and athleticism high performance sailing demands develops performance in all levels of sailing competition. In other words? Skiffs are awesome!
At the annual mid-year ISAF meeting, Spillane came out on top at the electronic yacht match racing competition that took place on the indoor pool.
"It was a close race!" says Spillane, describing how he edged out Rob the ISAF professional, and favourite entering the competition, "If it weren’t for the few beers I had before, there’s no way I could have won."
Asked how he felt after winning his first ISAF World Championship, Spillane reports he "definitely feels a little bit taller".
All 49er sailors are invited to "take on the Champion" this 1-10 July in Poland at the European 49er Championships.
