2. The Format and Schedule
The Olympic skiff Championships will unfold with an Opening Series and a Medal Race—a single race featuring the top 10 sailors, where points are doubled. The Opening Series will be divided into a Qualifying Series (5-7th of March), and a Final Series (8-10th). In the Final Series, as tradition dictates, the top 25 boats will enter the Gold fleet, while the others will be sorted into the Silver fleet (and Bronze for the 49er).
March 4th, is the last day of registration and inspection. It’s also an opportunity for sailors to engage in one last practice race, building anticipation for the real competition from March 5th to 10th, with a first race scheduled to begin at 12:00 local time (see the full program and racing areas below).
The official opening ceremony starts at 18:00 local time, and promises to create a captivating atmosphere in the Marina Rubicon, with 36 country flags parading around the Marina at sunset… keep an eye on our social media platforms to get a glimpse of the special evening!
