Joshua Richner / Nilo Schärer

Joshua Richner, born in 2002, sails out of Gstaad Yacht Club and the Thunersee-Yachtclub and lives between Murten and Saanen. He is part of the Swiss Sailing Team's C squad.

He has helmed with Nilo Schärer since at least 2022, when the pair were seventh at the Junior World Championship in Gravedona. Their breakthrough came at Kiel Week in June 2026, where they won a 90-boat fleet on 17 points, having been tied for the lead after two days with a 2, 3, 4, 3.

Nilo Schärer, born in 2003, sails for the Thunersee-Yachtclub and Gstaad Yacht Club and lives in Hinterkappelen. He is part of the Swiss Sailing Team's C squad.

He has crewed for Joshua Richner since at least 2022. The pair won Kiel Week in June 2026 in a 90-boat fleet, the best result of their career together and the first time a Swiss 49er has won a Grand Slam regatta this cycle.
