Maru Scheel / Freya Feilcke

Maru Scheel / Freya Feilcke
Germany’s rising FX team, 5th at the 2026 World Championships
A Kiel sailor representing the Kieler Yacht-Club, Maru Scheel has helmed alongside Freya Feilcke since they teamed up in 2017, first in the youth 29er and, from 2018, in the Olympic 49erFX.
The long-standing partnership has matured into Germany's leading women's skiff: at the 2026 World Championship in Quiberon they were the top German boat, finishing fifth by a single point.
Named to the German Sailing Team squad, Scheel and Feilcke share an openly stated goal of winning an Olympic medal for Germany.
Freya Feilcke is the jib trimmer and crew for Maru Scheel, and like her skipper she sails out of Kiel and the Kieler Yacht-Club.
The pair have grown up together in the boat since 2017, progressing from the 29er into the 49erFX, and now rank as Germany's strongest FX crew, best of the German boats with fifth place at the 2026 Worlds in Quiberon.
With a place in the German Sailing Team, Feilcke and Scheel are chasing an Olympic medal as their shared ambition.
