Tina Lutz & Susann Beucke

Tina Lutz was born on October 25, 1990 in Munich, Germany. She got an early start in the sport, becoming Germany's first Optimist world champion in 2005. She teamed up with Susann Beucke in 2007, and the pair built one of the longest running partnerships in the class, first sailing the 470 before switching to the 49erFX ahead of the 2016 Olympic cycle.

Lutz and Beucke fell just short of qualifying for the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, but their persistence paid off on the third attempt. They won European titles in 2017 and 2020, then represented Germany at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, sailing out of Enoshima, and won silver, Germany's best sailing result in 21 years. The medal capped a 15 year partnership between the two, and after Tokyo, both retired from Olympic competition.

Susann Beucke was born on June 11, 1991 in Kiel, Germany. Unlike her longtime crewmate Tina Lutz, she grew up sailing from childhood, spending weekends aboard her family's yacht on trips to Denmark. She began racing in the 49erFX, 470, and 29er classes before pairing up with Lutz in 2007.

Beucke and Lutz sailed together for 15 years, narrowly missing Olympic qualification in 2012 and 2016 before finally breaking through for Tokyo 2020. There, the pair won silver, Germany's best sailing result in over two decades. After Tokyo, Beucke retired from Olympic sailing and moved into offshore racing, competing in the Figaro Bénéteau 3 class starting in 2022 and later moving up to IMOCA 60, chasing a spot in races like the Vendée Globe.
