It was a wild and wooly medal race for the 49er class – in the end, Jonas WARRER and Martin IBSEN of Denmark were named the gold medal winners. {gallery}2008olympics{/gallery}
The 49er Medal Race got underway in very gusty conditions with big waves and heavy rain causing low visibility. Almost instantly their was carnage out on the race area. All competitors capsized and several equipment failures, including 2 broken masts, caused havoc among the competitors.
