Regatta Update: Skiff fans be ready for an intense final day of the Miami World Cup of Sailing. The 49er fleet is crazy close on points, with 4 teams within 3 points of each other going into this 3 race, Theatre Style, final. The 49erFX racing has seen Sarah Steyaert and Julie Bossard of France move into a commanding position based on their final 2 races, and then it’s a battle for the remaining podium positions!

The racing starts at 11:00 am eastern time USA, Saturday Feb. 1st, 2014 and here are all the details you need to follow along:

The 2014 World Cup of Sailing Miami has been a tricky event so far. Only 9/10 races were held in the first 5 days of standard fleet racing as sunny and light conditions became rainy and light conditions. Patience, consistency, and light air skills have continues to test for these 34/33 boat fleets! Each day the forecast looking forward has seemed like it will improve, but so far, to no avail. At time of writing, we look like we’re in for a treat with 10-14 knots showing. Join us to see who can take the title here in Miami!

49er Scores

D’Ortoli – Delpech: Julien D’Ortoli and Noe Delpech have been some of the most consistent performers over the past 3 seasons.  These long time team mates have gradually pushed their way up the 49er rankings with steady progression.  They narrowly missed out on the Bronze medal at the 2013 Europeans and were tied on count back with the Germans.  They are tied for the lead with Stevie Morrison and new crew Chris Grube, and both had a fantastic final day to leapfrog into the lead.  Just on their heals are two other teams only 3 points back, 2008 Gold Medalist Jonas Warrer with Peter Lang and another new Team Brad Funk and Trevor Burd (Funky-Bird).  These 4 will battle through the 3 race series to determine the champion.

49erFX Scores

Steyaert – Bossard : Sarah Steyaert and Julie Bossard are the ever consistent duo that jumped onto the 49erFX scene by cleaning up a Bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships.  They won the North American’s on the same waters just last week and are looking for the double.  They hold a 16 point lead that they built up over the final 2 races of the main series.

In second are Conti and Clapcich have been training hard in Sardinia through the winter and came strong out of the gates of this regatta to be front runners from the start.  They have transitioned easily from the 470 and the radial to be come contenders.  They narrowly missed out on the Bronze medal at 2013 World Championships so will be looking for some hardware!
