Johanne Schmidt helms Denmark's 49erFX alongside her older sister Andrea, the pair racing out of Aarhus Sailing Club.

The sisters have sailed together since 2014, moving up through the 29er before getting serious in the FX from 2020, and represented Denmark at the Paris 2024 Olympics. As helm, Johanne calls the tactics downwind while Andrea runs the upwind calls.

It is a true sibling partnership that produced race wins and podium days at the 2026 World Championship as they target Los Angeles 2028.

Andrea Schmidt, a year older than her skipper sister Johanne, crews and calls the windward-leg tactics in Denmark's sister-act 49erFX from Aarhus Sailing Club.

Sailing together since 2014, the Schmidts became Danish Olympic representatives at Paris 2024 and have grown into a top-15 World team, scoring three third places and a race win on their way up the standings at the 2026 Worlds.

The sisters are aiming for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
