This Preliminary NOR covers the events that will constitute the 2008 49er Grand Prix

In 2008 a series of the most prestigious events in the 49er regatta calendar will be combined to form the 2008 49er Grand Prix. 

ORGANIZING AUTHORITY:

The
International 49er Class Association in association with the individual
Regatta Organizers will be the Organizing Authority for this Grand Prix. 

THE FOLLOWING EVENTS SHALL CONSTITUTE THE 49ER GRAND PRIX 2008:      

RULES:

The Grand prix is governed by the RRS and the Sailing instructions of the relevant Grand Prix Regattas.  Boats may be obliged to carry tracking devices. 

ADVERTISING:

Advertising will be in accordance with Category C events.  Events advertising using the front 25% of the hull may include Official 49er Class Partners.

ENTRY AND ELIGIBILITY:

Whoever
enters any of the above regattas automatically enters the 2008 49er
Grand Prix, provided he or she is a member of the International 49er
Class Association. Entry criteria will be in accordance with the
individual events.

SCORING:

At each event, the top 10 boats score points for the 2008 49er Grand Prix.  The first boat scores 10 points, the second 9 and so on down to 10^th place,
which receives 1 point. The overall winner is the boat which has gained
the most points at the 2008 49er Grand Prix Regattas and will be
crowned �2008 49er Grand Prix Champion�

MEDIA:

The International 49er Class Association may provide all media for the 2008 49er Grand Prix events.  Media imagery will be shared at no cost with all Event Organizers and ISAF.

PRIZES:

The Organizing Authority shall give prizes to the top 3 boats for each event making up the 2008 49er Grand Prix.  The International 49er Class Association may supplement the prizes given by the Organizing authority.
