High Performance Fleets Arrive at L.A. 2028 Olympic Waters for Week 2 of San Pedro OCR

Second week of Olympic competition kicks off on August 3 in the L.A. Harbor and Runs until August 8

SAN PEDRO, CA – Sailing continues in the first Olympic Class regatta to take place at the Port of Los Angeles in 96 years, including the 1984 L.A. Games, held east of this site. The coming week will mark the first opportunity for sailors in the 49er Men’s, 49er FX Women’s, and Nacra 17 Mixed Olympic classes to race at the L.A. 2028 Olympic venue.

In this second week of racing, another 140 competitors from 20 countries will compete, including 27 Olympians. Among them are the 7 winners of 1 gold, 5 silver, and 1 bronze Olympic medals.

Medal Ceremonies

The medal presentations for San Pedro OCR will take place promptly at 6:30 PM on August 8, at the Olympic Sailing Center at 3000 Shoshonean Road, San Pedro.  Port of LA Waterfront Director Mike Galvin and Sailing Grand Slam’s Fred Hagedorn along with San Pedro OCR Co-Chairs Ken Corry and Scott Weinert will participate in the awards programming.
