The crucial final four days of the regatta, held at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy from May 13 to 19, will be broadcast live online thanks to a new partnership with production company Icarus Sports.
The broadcast will cover the final two days of fleet racing, staged in Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay, plus the all-important medal races to decide the medal winners in each class.
Icarus Sports will also produce highlights and news packages for external media which will reach more than a billion people in the months following the event.
The regatta is set to be one of the biggest of the 2019 season, with more than 400 sailors expected to attend. It will be the first time Olympic classes racing has taken place in the UK since 2016.
It also comes at a crucial time of the Olympic cycle, and a number of nations will use it as a selection event ahead of Tokyo 2020.
“Bringing the best of fleet racing to our fans is a constant goal of the classes,” said Marcus Spillane, president of the 49er, 49er FX and Nacra classes. “Showcasing the best sailors on earth in between Olympic Games is vital to telling the story and journey of how these champions come to be.”
