Read MoreThe 2012 SEIKO 49er European Championship was sailed out of Fraglia Vela Riva in Riva del Garda, Italy, from 8–15 September 2012, with the 2012 Youth World Championship decided within the same regatta. The event was an important one for the class: it pioneered the theatre-style knockout finals format and carried live SAP tracking and daily live broadcasts — the fleet raced qualifying, gold/silver fleet racing and a final-day showdown beneath the Garda cliffs, with France’s Mathieu Frei and Yann Rocherieux crowned champions.
