Spinnaker Watches have sponsored the 49er sailing class and are partnering for 2017 competitive sailing season to be the Official Timekeeping Partners.
Combining both the need for impeccable technical and physical ability, the 49er sailing class provides well rounded entertainment to the sailing world from March through to August. The circuit in 2016 saw the teams compete from Miami to Barcelona, all before the 49er class had its Grande Finale in the Olympic games, taking place in Rio, Brazil.
The Spinnaker / 49er partnership celebrates all aspects which the sport strives to keep as it’s core competencies. A custom timepiece has been commission by Spinnaker watches for the 49er class.The Amalfi Yacht Racer.
A technically sound watch, giving the sailors the ability to set a countdown timer at 5, 6 and 10 minute intervals in order for them to start their regattas. A set of tones alert the wearer as the countdown commences, ending with an alarm as the race should start.
Spinnaker has worked directly with the 49er class to optimize the fit, design and technical features needed to provide the ultimate timepiece for a competitive sailing environment. Besides the countdown timer, the custom timepiece also features a chronograph movement, the ability to set an alarm and a date display. Crafted from 316L Marine grade stainless steel, the watch is resistant against corrosion due to its low carbon structure. A screw down crown insures the impermeable casing keeps the inner workings of the timepiece dry.
Spinnaker will be present at the 49er European and World Championships. Providing precision time keeping for the regattas as well as on the livestreams for all online viewers. All spectators and visitors are welcome to visit the Spinnaker stand to view the custom Amalfi Yacht Racer, along with a range of other timepieces from Spinnaker.
