Implementation of new International 49er Class Carbon Rig and associated sails
Following weeks of consultation with the ISAF technical staff and the Chairman of the ISAF Class Rules Sub Committee, the International 49er Class Executive are pleased to advise all members that the 3 piece fully carbon mast section and the "square head mainsail and jib" will become class legal for racing as from April 1, 2009.
This announcement will allow the legal use of the rig in competition commencing with the annual ISAF Grade 1 Princess Sophia regatta to be conducted in Palma from 4 April, 2009.
The International 49er Class would like to express its gratitude to the ISAF for its guidance and assistance in this matter and for the patience of all concerned.
